The larger-than-life size silverpoint drawing is based on a charcoal study. The silver is smoothly applied to create the subtle tonal shifts.

This piece is comprised solely of undulating lines — a technique created by the artist — that results in a range of tones that form the image. The image has a harmonic quality that results from the unique application of ink.

During a 4th of July outing with friends, the artist produced this piece onsite, “pliene aire” in Hood River, Oregon.

This is a study of a drapery where the manipulation of light and dark shades create a three dimensional effect.

The artist uses three different techniques in this piece. The silver on the mountain and figure is comprised solely of vertical lines embuing the figure with gravitas. The vertical lines contrast with the foliage in the background and the crosshatch on the stone.

This is an ink study for a large oil painting. The main figures are compositionally worked out for the painting. The drawing foreshadows the power of the larger work.

This is the artist’s first experiment with pure undulating lines inspired by Albert Einstein’s E=mc2rd equation. After completing this initial work the artist went on to draw additional images in this style, including a self portrait and a painting of Albert Einstein.

The artist was inspired while listening to Bachs tacata in fugue in the Andes mountains. It seemed as though the music was coming from the earth itself, and assuning that it actually was, this is a rendering of the unseen side of the mountain.
